This collection contains family correspondence between members of the Avery family, including C. S. and Ellen Avery of Bucks Flat, California, and Edward Avery of Fort Junction, Iowa. The letters are primarily concerned with family matters, though C. S. Avery's letters also discuss agriculture in California. The collection also contains receipts and a deed for Sarah Avery of Three Oaks, Michigan.

This collection contains a letter from Martha C. Bradley to Nancy Kimball, describing the sinking of her husband's whaling ship and sending family news. Also included is a deed for land in Berrien County, Michigan, sold by Mrs. Bradley in 1866.
