This collection consists of the typewritten reminiscences of Carrie Usewick Harvey, of Wexford County, Michigan, as told to her daughter.
The reminiscences gave an account of the family's migration and settlement in Wexford County, and Carrie's recollections of her youth. They also describe early lumbering operations and homemade remedies for illness.

Most of the material is personal correspondence between the Edward Parsons family and relatives living in Livingston and Clinton Counties, New York.
