Biographical Note

Carrie Harvey's father, Dennis Usewick, was born in New York but later settled in Coldwater, Michigan, with his wife Harriett. In 1865, after serving in the Civil War, he moved his family north to what would become the city of Sherman, in Wexford County. When the Usewicks settled there it was a wilderness. Carrie married William Harvey, an English immigrant.
