This collection consists of several educational certificates. Included are teacher's certificates of Mary Davidson, Berrien County, Michigan (1866) and Nebraska (1884); a teacher's license (1885), La Porte County, Indiana, of Maurice Parker; a teacher's contract (1902), Three Oaks Township, Berrien County, of Osker Wright; and a certificate of promotion from the ninth to the tenth grade (1905), Three Oaks, Michigan, of John Duncan.

This collection consists of a tax receipt (1844) for Cyrus Barnes of LaPorte, Indiana and a mortgage (1870) for land purchased by George W. Barnes in Three Oaks, Michigan.

Burrows regarding her application for the position as Matron on the "Indian Service" (1898), and a school roll book from Three Oaks, Berrien County, Michigan (1875).

Scope and Contents The Jacob Gerrish papers consist of diaries, deeds, correspondence, and receipts. Gerrish, who lived in New Buffalo, Berrien County, Michigan, kept five diaries during the years 1836-1850. He used the diaries to record his work as a carpenter and blacksmith, his dealings with lumber and land, daily expenses, religious and social activities, and weather conditions. This collection consists of two deeds for property in LaPorte County, Indiana. One deed is for land sold to Luther Case; the second for land sold to Nathaniel Case. James Bradley was acting for the estate of Horace B. Hibbard.
