Scope and Contents

The collection consists of photos mounted on mattes, scrapbook of photos, and loose photos taken by Arthur Clendenin, Jr. The images include photos of Michigan State College (now Michigan State University) campus buildings, a few photos of athletics, exterior of Rose Bowl stadium in 1954, homecoming court contest in 1953, homecoming queen Ardeth Raymond, Kappa Alpha Mu (photojournalism honorary society) events, and the Michigan Press Photographers conference.

Content Description The Arthur H. Tonn collection consists of a scrapbook created by Tonn. Included are photographs and ephemera relating to his childhood and school in Detroit; photos of airplanes; images of the Port Austin Michigan area; photos, newspaper clippings, and ephemera from Tonn’s time in the Army Air Force, including information related to travel and the Lackland Air Base in Texas; also included are photos of a parade celebrating Detroit's 250th anniversary.
