Frank D. Lewis collection
This collection contains two Civil War poems, "The Dying Soldier at Manassas" and "The Veteran's Growl." "The Veteran's Growl" was written by a soldier who was sent to Texas on garrison duty after the war ended. The author describes the miserable conditions in Texas and satirizes War Department policies and Union leaders.
Also included is a brief genealogy of the Lewis family.
Frank Pyatt papers
This collection consists of two poems and a unpublished novel, Woodman's Trail, written by Frank Pyatt. Both the poems and the novel describe Michigan lumbering in the pine era. Pyatt wrote several fictional accounts of Michigan lumbering, largely because he was dissatisfied with historical accounts.
Also included are biographical notes from an interview with Pyatt.
George Henry Ellis papers
Papers of George Ellis consist of a scrapbook, college songs, poems written by Ellis, and a line graph Ellis drew showing his salary increases and describing his various engineering jobs from 1907 to 1950. The scrapbook contains photographs of Ellis and his friends, a 1906 Michigan Agricultural College calendar, college songs and yells, and photographs cut from M.A.C. catalogs dating from 1899.
