H. J. Karn collection

This collection contains notes made by Bill Taylor from a 1964 interview with H. J. Karn, in which Karn discusses his working experience in the Lansing plant of the REO Motor Car Company during the years 1906-1916. Also included is a REO Company brochure describing a 1910 record-breaking transcontinental trip from New York to San Francisco in a REO car. The collection includes a photograph of the REO bus that traveled across the country in 1920.

This collection contains correspondence and legal papers concerning the estates of Edward M. Hill and his wife, Phoebe A. Hill, of Lansing, Michigan. Many of the letters are from beneficiaries living in Derby, England and Mrs. William (Phoebe) Bohnet, executor of Mrs. Hill's estate.

The Ivan Goodrich collection contains correspondence, reports, financial records, and Michigan tourist publications belonging to Mr. Goodrich as a private citizen, as well as a member of various Eaton County Boards dating from 1938-1966. There are also pamphlets and financial records pertaining to the Hayes-Green-Beach Memorial Hospital in Charlotte, Michigan and the Tri-County Planning Commission.

James I. Rogers letter

Scope and Contents

This collection consists of a letter from James I. Rogers, of Eaton County, Michigan to his brother and sister in Wyoming County, New York, giving a very detailed inventory of his farm and an account of his agricultural prospects. Rogers describes the schools, businesses, and professions in the new town of Eaton Rapids, and tells about the building of the early state capital in Lansing.

James J. Nugent collection

Scope and Contents Note The James J. Nugent collection consists of images taken by Nugent at a Vietnam protest march on May 14, 1970 that went from MSU to the Capitol with a rally at the Capitol afterwards. The images show people marching along Michigan Avenue, protest signs, and a damaged car. There is also an image of people holding a mock coffin with the words Vietnam Cambodia Kent. Other images show the protestors at the Capitol. There are also images of people protesting in support of United Farm Workers. ...

Scope and Contents of the Papers The James Taylor papers include correspondence, receipts, and other materials dealing with his business and personal activities. Throughout the correspondence there are numerous letters concerning education, particularly at the college level. Jenison family papers

Scope and Contents The bulk of the collection consists of Frederick C. Jenison's papers for the period 1907-1939. Included are personal and business records, primarily expenditure reports. The personal correspondence includes copies of letters that Jenison sent. The papers are most complete for the 1930s, less complete for the 1920s, and rather incomplete for the period 1910-1920. One significant portion of the collection consists of check stubs, both personal and business, for most of the period 1907-1939....

Justin Kestenbaum collection

The Justin Kestenbaum collection contains photographic materials such as photographs, negatives, and transparencies that Kestenbaum used for his books, "Out of the Wilderness: An Illustrated History of Greater Lansing" and "At the Campus Gate: A History of East Lansing." Some of the photographs came from the University Archives and Historical Collections; others were taken by Kestenbaum himself. The photographs show people and places from the Lansing area.
