Historical Note

The Ann Arbor Railroad Technical and Historical Association is a non-profit Michigan organization whose stated purpose is to collect, preserve and disseminate information and artifacts concerning the history of the Ann Arbor Railroad. The News Letter, which is published about five times a year, is the vehicle through which much of this activity is reported. Prior to 1982, the Association was named the Ann Arbor Railroad Historical Society. Its newsletter was called The Ann Arbor by Rail and Lake and was first published in 1978. When the Historical Society changed its name in 1982, it renamed its publication the News Letter, and in 1985 changed again to The Double A.
