Cora Weiss papers

Scope and Contents

The Cora Weiss papers contain materials from the African American Student Foundation, 1959-1963, including hundreds of letters from students wishing to come to America for college; fundraising letters; financial letters; newspaper clippings on the impact of this unusual initiative; and memos, reports, and letters reflecting the extraordinary tension and political attacks showing the apparent threat this effort was causing.

Cornelius Moore African Activist Collection

Scope and Contents

The collection includes documents from the Philadelphia-based group, United People's Campaign Against Apartheid and Racism (UPCAAR) from the late 1970s and 1980s. There are also political buttons from a number of organizations in Philadelphia, Oregon, Barcelona, among other locations. There are also programs from a concert at Harvard and from the American Film Festival.

Count Samuel Teleki East African diaries, in Hungarian, 1886-95; with English translations, 1961-1965

Scope and Contents Samuel Teleki led an expedition to East Africa, 1886-1889, during which he discovered Lakes Rudolf and Stephanie in Kenya and Ethiopia. He also led a second tour of East Africa, 1893. The papers include two diaries of Teleki's East African expeditions of 1886-89, photographs, and microcopies from the Vienna Staatsarchiv of Teleki's letters and reports from Africa about the expedition of 1886-1889, sent to Crown Prince Rudolf. Crimes in territorial New Mexico collection

Scope and Contents

This collection centers around five separate criminal court cases in Territorial New Mexico between 1858-1878. Many of the cases in this collection occurred within Bernalillo County, NM. Each case examines a different crime and provides supported documentation including witness testimonies, arrest warrants, sentencing summaries, and jury statements. The cases range from theft of property (mule and oxen) to assualt and murder.

Scope and Contents One postcard showing a person identified as "Rex" in a dress and wig, next to them and sitting on a post is a person identified as Loren Nelson Omans. Both are posing in front of a house with trees in the background. On the verso is a canceled stamp dated "4 pm 1912 Detroit MI" and a note in pencil signed as "Love from Rex," the postcard is addressed to Mrs. J. O. Power of Addison, Mich.
