The collection contains letterpress books containing correspondence concerning business and legal transactions of the Chicago and Western Michigan Railroad Company.

The first volume contains copies of letters written between January 15 and May 16, 1885. At that time, J. B. Mulliken was General Manager of the railroad. The second volume contains copies of correspondence written from April 27 to August 27, 1896. Charles H. Heald was the railroad's General Manager at the time.

This collection contains notes made by Bill Taylor from a 1964 interview with H. J. Karn, in which Karn discusses his working experience in the Lansing plant of the REO Motor Car Company during the years 1906-1916. Also included is a REO Company brochure describing a 1910 record-breaking transcontinental trip from New York to San Francisco in a REO car. The collection includes a photograph of the REO bus that traveled across the country in 1920.
