Scope and Contents

The Alfred P. Cannon collection contains two photos taken by Cannon of the Beal Pinetum and the Michigan State University forestry cabin. Cannon was a forestry student at the Ohio State University and took the photos during a visit to Michigan State.

Forestry Club records

Scope and Content

This collection contains a minute book with the constitution and by laws of the club at its creation, attendance rolls and minutes of the meetings. The minutes for 1912-1913 contain receipts, and dues as well as meeting information. The papers folder contains a financial statement of the club and correspondence with the Intercollegiate Association of Forestry Clubs. Also included is a newsletter from 1967.

Fred Avery Thompson papers

Scope and Content The collection consists of photographs from Thompson's years as a Michigan Agricultural College (now Michigan State University) student (1913-1916) and his career as a forester in the 1930s. The M.A.C. photographs include group shots of the Forestry Club, Thompson studying, Class Rush events, and Forestry Club Summer Camp. Jethro O. Veatch collection

Scope and Contents

This collection consists of a 1953 published work by Veatch, soil survey maps, a reprint of a soil profiles paper, list of Ginseng growers (1905), and Michigan Ginseng Growers convention proceedings (1905). The book contains sections on physical divisions, types of soil, types of vegetation, land types, land use, and possibilities for agricultural production and includes a foldout Michigan Soil Association map. Many of the soil survey maps were produced by or with assistance of Veatch.
