Adam L. Roof papers

Scope and Contents

His papers include letters (1860-1850) written while Roof was serving in the Michigan House of Representatives and later in the Senate. Six daybooks and one account book deal with Roof's real estate business and agricultural activities. The miscellaneous documents include tax receipts (1860,1861), and adoption agreement (1868), biographical notes on Roof and newspaper articles on the early history of Lyons.

Alanson Royce papers

Scope and Contents This collection consists primarily of letters from Alanson Royce to his family, describing his farm in New Buffalo, Michigan, and his migration to Mornington, Missouri, where he also farmed. In his letters home Royce discusses Missouri's economy and agricultural prospects, as well as education and social conditions. There are very few references to slavery. Royce farmed in Missouri until 1862, when his pro-Union views angered local Confederate sympathizers and forced him to flee to Illinois....

Papers of Albert A. Crane consist of a diary (1872) and two letters between Madison Kuhn and Mrs. Neil Smith, niece of Albert Crane. Letters contain some biographical information. Scope and Contents This collection contains photocopies of miscellaneous notes and drawings of mill machinery and other papers of Alexander Copley, a flour and lumber mill operator of Champion, Jefferson County, New York. Included are three volumes (1825-1843) containing notes and drawings for the construction of mills and mill machinery, mill accounts (1837-1846) and family and farm accounts (1848-1879). Alton Wheaton papers

The Alton Wheaton papers contain primarily financial records and other forms of inventory that Wheaton took while working on his farm. There is also a small section on some of Wheaton’s community activities, some photographs of said activities, and two books on the Wheaton family genealogy. There are also a number of folders containing deeds and titles to various pieces of land Wheaton owned. There are also catalogs, plans, newsletters and brochures on farm topics.
