Despite an early MSU lead and a 98-yard kickoff return by running back Derek Hughes in the 3rd quarter, a series of turnovers contributed to the loss against the Badgers, and the Big Ten co-champion Spartans would fall to 2nd place in the division.

In an MSC-TV broadcast of a show entitled "Official Football Films of Michigan State vs. Marquette", Howard Finch speaks with coach Biggie Munn after the final game of the 1952 season (Munn's second undefeated season in a row). Footage from the November 22, 1952 home game against Marquette is included (Spartans won 62-13), and Munn provides commentary while plays are shown.
