Shapiro's 1982 doctoral dissertation entitled, "Intercollegiate Athletics and Big-Time Sport at Michigan State University: or 'The Difference between Good and Great is a Little Extra Effort.'" This collection consists of bills, The Grand Constitution of Pi Delta Epsilon, scripts for the 1925 fraternity initiation ritual, minutes of a meeting, and the charter record book of the Michigan State College chapter. The charter record book includes a history of Pi Delta Epsilon, the by-laws of the fraternity, and register, with records of members between the years 1924 and 1930. The charter was in the “Charter of Pi Delta Epsilon” binder but was removed for preservation reasons.
